What is some great instrumental music to listen to while writing?

What is some great instrumental music to listen to while writing?
I’m looking for some energetic music with no lyrics in any language. Any vocalization tends to cause my mind to wonder. I like acoustic guitars. I don’t like too many synthesized sounds, but a little is okay. I like a variety of music, so suggest anything, and I’ll see if I’m game. If you know where I can listen to a sample online, too, that would be great.

I listen to music from the video game "The Longest Journey" quite often when I write. The music is available free for download. See the link. I like the longer pieces especially because they are very repetitive. Music that is too improvisational distracts me when I’m writing.

I also think the "Grizzly Man" soundtrack is excellent as well. It’s available on iTunes.

i LOVE listening to instrumental music while writing. I’ve already downloaded various pieces by Mozart, Bach, Beethoven etc, and the soundtrack from some game called The Longest Journey, and some pieces from Cirque de Soleil…

is there anything else that I can listen to, and where can I get it? (preferably for free)

(Oh, and please don’t say "ocean waves". ocean waves drives me insane)

you can listen to nature sounds or classical music on you tube if you have easy internet access or if you have com-cast, you can go to channels 401 to about 440 which have many genres to choose from. Hope i helped

How do I use Wavepad to record vocals over an instrumental?

May 19, 2010 - 8:19 pm 1 Comment

I have figured out how to import a 2-track instrumental. Eventually I will just import each individual music track. But for now I need to figure out how to record vocals over an instrumental. I have already imported the instrumental I want to use. I have my mic set up. Now I need to figure out how to create a track to record audio over the instrumental.

Wavepad is not a multi-track recording application.
For that you will need Audacity.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

You may also need Lame to encode to mp3 if desired:

http://lame.sourceforge.net/

Tutorial:

http://www.guidesandtutorials.com/audacity-tutorial.html

You will need to set the multi-track recording function yourself.
Go to File / Preferences / Audio I/O and check:
"Play other tracks while recording new one"

After opening or importing the instrumental track into the program each time you click the red record button a new track will be created to record your vocal on.

Drake ft. Lil Wayne – Ransom Instrumental

I remade the beat for Ransom by Drake & Lil Wayne.
This is the closest I could get to the original.
Shoutouts to Boi-1da. What’s good??

How to use headphone and play instrumental while trying to record rap?

It won’t let me play the instrumental and listen to it through headphones while I rap.
Is there a software other than audacity that allows you to do so?

What are some very good instrumental music artists and songs?

May 11, 2010 - 3:06 am 4 Comments

i love instrumental music but dont know that many intrumental music artists and songs. I only know kenny G. give me some advice or list a bunch and why they are good. Thanks a lot on making my instrumental hunt easier.

Chet Atkins is one of the greatest guitarists of all time and usually did instrumental stuff. If you like Atkins, you may also like Jerry Reed and Buster B. Jones.

Also, he doesn’t usually play mainly instrumentals, but modern country guitarist Brad Paisley released an album back in November called PLAY. That album had 11 great instrumentals on it. And Paisley went placed most country guitarists wouldn’t dare to go–surf rock, blues, rock, etc. PLAY really shows just how versatile Paisley is as a guitarist. In fact, he seems to be a musical chameleon with how well he can play ANY genres with ease!

Danny Gatton was another great guitarist. He was able to play many genres well and I’ve often called Brad Paisley another version of Danny Gatton, when it comes to guitar.

There’s also a female bassist by the name of Tal Wilkenfeld whose stuff I believe is completely instrumental.

If you love jazz guitar, you’ll want to check out Wes Montgomery, Lenny Breau and Mike Stern.

For rock guitar masters, check out Eric Johnson, Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert.

If you want country guitar, check out Brad Paisley, Brent Mason, Albert Lee, Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed.

For acoustic guitar, check out Monte Montgomery.

Keep in mind, however, that not all the artists I’ve mentioned stick strictly to instrumental work. Also, Brent Mason is a session guitarist who has an album which is out-of-print, but also receyly released an album with his brother and drummer, Randy Mason.

Also, sorry for mentioning so many guitarists!
