How do you cover the scent of weed from police dogs?

May 31, 2010 - 2:59 pm 7 Comments

I’ll be going to reading festival tomorrow, and apparently there’s loads of sniffer dogs about. I really don’t see the issue of taking a bit of weed to smoke at a 4 day music festival, but there ya go. I’ve heard something about covering it in a plastic zip-lock bag, then cover it in another plastic bag. I’ve also heard about using Vaseline to seal the smell, and coffee beans to cover the smell. Anyone have any advice?

Tie pork chops to your ankles or rub your self down in bacon fat. If they do approach you then you can whip out your pork chops or cite your bacon grease moisturizer as the reason.

Above ground pool, do you cover it during the summer or leave it open?

May 29, 2010 - 12:40 am 4 Comments

We are new owners of an above ground pool. The salespeople at the place we purchased the pool from have not been very helpful. I just called to ask why we did not receive our cover with the pool. The man told me we would receive it at the end of the season. I said then, well, we have to purchase a cover for the summer then? He said no, you do not cover the pool in the summer. Is this true? Are you supposed to leave it open during the summer? When I was a kid my friend’s family would cover the pool every night in order to keep it clean. I am baffled. Thanks in advance!

You don’t have to cover it, in fact it’s best if you don’t. This gives the water a chance to gas off the combined chlorines as they are oxidized.

Feel free to drop me a line at robandliz1992@yahoo.com and I’ll give you some more information on maintaining your pool, the chemistry involved, the adjustments and how to make them, etc. Please include the gallons size of the pool, filtration system, chlorination system, and any chemicals you have used in the last couple weeks. Also, if you happen to have a water chemistry analysis done on the pool water recently please include the results.

How to write an impressive cover letter for an entry level IT job?

May 19, 2010 - 8:19 pm 4 Comments

Actually what exactly is a cover letter? And what should it contain? And is a cover letter really effective? How can we make full use of a cover letter especially for an IT job? Thanks

PS- What is the better way- to first call the company telephonically or first send the resume & cover letter and then talk telephonically.

Here is a sample…

Dear Hiring Manager,

In search of a suitable IT opening within your esteemed organization, I take this liberty to forward my resume for your kind review.

My educational background and years of experience spans my entire expertise in IT with main areas of interests in Hardware maintenance, Web Designing and installation of all sorts of networking using Windows. What more important is my way of leading the team towards professional excellence, and delivering results of completing projects, meeting tight deadlines and performing under pressure which has been my foundation to achieve in my present assignment and career progression.

An expression of your interest would be highly appreciated, and I look forward to a chance for elaborating my skills and qualities, which could add value to your organization. Therefore, I would be available for an initial interview at your organization.

Sincerely ,
ABC

>> First send resume and cover letter.

How to write cover letter to a place with no job advertised?

May 16, 2010 - 1:22 pm 2 Comments

Hello,

I graduate college in May, and I thought now would be a good time to start on the job hunt thing. There’s a company out of state I really want to work for. I want to send my resume to them, along with a cover letter. I know how to write a cover letter, however I’ve only ever written cover letters to places that had a job advertised. How do I write one when there is no job advertised? What should I include in the letter??

Thanks for your help in advance!

I’d highly advise on writing targeted cover letters which target specific positions. If there is a specific type of position in which you are interested in at the company but didn’t have the job description, I would search online for similar jobs which may have the same job duties and write as if that position existed at your targeted company of interest.

If you were aiming to write a universal cover letter which could apply to any position I believe the following breakdown of a cover letter can help greatly:

—————–
Your Name
Address
Contact number
Date

Company Name

Address

Dear Mr./Ms./Dr

(address the letter to a general title like dear hiring manager)

Immediately available, skilled, personable, experienced and I have great passion for the profession!

(include a attention grabbing headline, bold the text)

First Paragraph:

The first paragraph should always answer these questions:

1) What is your reason for writing?
2) What types of roles are you applying for?
(include interested duties)
3) How did you hear about the organization?
4) Is your resume attached?
5) Do you believe the organization will benefit from your qualifications?

Second Paragraph:

The second paragraph should answer these questions:

1) What skills can you bring which match that within the job spec?
2) Do you have any professional accreditation?
3) Are you passionate about working there / why?

Third Paragraph:

The third paragraph should answer these questions:

1) What interests you about the organization?
2) What interests you about the types of work/duties?
3) What do you like about organization from the brief review of it?

Fourth Paragraph:

The third paragraph should answer these questions:

1) When are you available again?
2) Will you contact them and when?
3) Thank them for their time and consideration here
4) What are your contact details again?
5) Are you interested in an interview?

Yours Sincerely

(signature here)

Full Name Typed

———————————–

I hope in the future you gain an interest for a specific career path you are interested in and not just any position within a organization as it will become easier to target certain specific positions.

I wish you all the best,

Hope this helped.

Is it normal to cover bathroom tile with a paint like substance?

May 13, 2010 - 6:09 am 1 Comment

i jusnoticed that my landlord has certain spots in the bathroom covered with a white paint like substance. Under the shower handle, she has a thick white guey like substance as if she was trying to cover something dark. The bottom of my bathroom tub is also rusted. Is this acceptable? And for what other reason could she be covering tile with paint other than to cover up mold? How do I know for sure? Thanks.

Sounds like an El Cheapo landlord. Use a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab on the title to detect mold. Also, you can call your local department of health and safety to discuss if the rusted tub is a safety code or federal violation against the landlord, and what potential actions that you can take.

How to cover a book that has a soft cover?

May 11, 2010 - 3:06 am 2 Comments

Well i have a soft cover book its about 500 pgs long and looks like a regular textbook, i have no clue how to cover it. Can someone give me some ideas plz?

It depends if the book is yours and you want to protect it they sell clear contact paper that you can cover the book with it will protect it better than a paper bag but will not come off so don’t use it if the book isn’t yours. The sell it in colors to if you don’t have to see the cover. works great.
