Diamond colors and how to choose

Diamonds are either classified as colorless (grades D-F inclusive) or near-colorless (grades G-J inclusive). However, this is not something to be too worried about (which is why I said the color is an easy element to deal with) as other than jewelers, people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference betwen a D diamond on the one hand and a J diamond on the other – the differences are very subtle indeed. Even jewelers can only judge the color by comparing with a chart, and even then under specific conditions (i.e. face down on a white card). So if you are to buy even a J diamond for your engagement rings or bridal sets
, know that to all intents and purposes, its colorless.

If you’re worried about it looking too yellow, one solution is to make sure to put it in a yellow gold setting (rather than white gold or platinum), as it’ll look whiter against the yellow.
