Pneumatic power is regulated and managed by pneumatic valves. Functionally, valves are divided into four main groups viz, path control, move control, pressure control and non-return and special sort valves. As per development, valves are sub-grouped as seat valves and sliding or spool valves. However, spool valves are simpler to manufacture. Valves are actuated in various strategies, viz, manually, mechanically, electrically, pneumatically and by various mixed mode of actuation. Specifically designed valves like quick exhaust, time delay and shuttle and twin stress valves are used to impart numerous capabilities to pneumatic circuits.

To manage the backward and forward movement of a pneumatic cylinder, the air power must be regulated, controlled and reversed with a pre decided sequence in a pneumatic system.Parker Fluid Controls Division
